Fibromyalgia Detoxification

One of the first recommendations I make for new fibromyalgia patients in my office to begin the protocol of treating fibromyalgia with a detox program. Over time, we accumulate and store various toxins in the organs and tissues inside the body. Our bodies eliminate many toxins, but not all, so that over time can accumulate. Most of the time, this buildup of toxins are not enough to be recognized as a disease, but can cause problems in the body.

A common problem that can occur an imbalance in pH or an imbalance of bacteria (bad bacteria that good bacteria) in the gastrointestinal tract, which can lead to poor digestion of food. No optimum digestion, reduces nutrient absorption may occur, which in turn can lead to other health problems besides fibromyalgia. Therefore, the victim of fibromyalgia feel even more uncomfortable.

A detox program can help the body get rid of some of these toxins, and is especially important for people with fibromyalgia who took the drugs for years.

Simple suggestions for detoxification:

• Eat as "clean" as possible. Cut all junk food such as packaged snacks.
o It is necessary to increase the intake of fresh vegetables fruits and whole grains (but limit the amount of grains consumed).
o Increase water intake. The usual recommendation is to drink 8 glasses of water a day, but if you are detoxification, would increase to about 10 or more.
o Eat more natural foods.
o If you do not exercise, start a program of gentle but steady walk during the week. If you are exercising, continue to do so.
or must limit drinks containing caffeine, such as coffee, one or two small serving per day. I'd recommend the consumption of only 5.4 ounces or espresso sized portions.
Reduce or protein (eggs, meat) consumption. The protein contains ammonia, which must be filtered by the liver and detoxification, try to "clean" the liver.
or add a fiber product such as psyllium husk to your diet.
or refined sugars should be avoided, including cookies, crackers and other foods in a bag or box to decrease stimulation of insulin secretion during detoxification. Also, stay away from artificial sweeteners and MSG, a common additive, and other ingredients that are not found naturally in foods to avoid excessive strain on the liver.
o Avoid processed foods - like lunch meat / sausage, white bread and most cheeses.
o Avoid carbonated drinks (soda / cola) - soft drinks contain large amounts of sugar and phosphoric acid can affect the pH balance in the digestive tract. Soft drinks (including sugar) is leaches calcium from our body.
o Avoid fruit juices as they contain very often a lot of sugar.
o Avoid hydrogenated oils or trans fats.

Here are some suggestions that can be implemented to help detoxify your body. For overall health, most of these recommendations should be followed anyway, no matter if you are detoxing or not.
