Fibromyalgia is often overlooked or misdiagnosed for a number of reasons. There is no definitive blood tests or X -rays to diagnose fibromyalgia and share symptoms with other diseases and conditions.
The diagnosis of fibromyalgia is a combination of taking history of the patient's symptoms , the test points trigger physical examination and patient exclusion.
Today I will focus on the exclusion of the diagnosis of fibromyalgia. Sometimes, people are diagnosed with fibromyalgia because their doctors could not perform the necessary steps to test a different condition , and can be serious.
If you feel terrible and meets a variety of common symptoms of fibromyalgia, you go to your doctor.
After reviewing your history, your doctor may want to do tests to start the exclusion of diseases.
What diseases and conditions your doctor should test for the diagnosis of fibromyalgia ?
The following diseases and conditions share some of the symptoms of fibromyalgia and must be excluded. Sometimes doctors who are not as familiar with fibromyalgia exclude these serious and potentially fatal diseases. You have the right as a patient to ask your doctor to test the following:
diabetes
Easily tested for blood
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
There is currently no blood test for this disease , but have recently discovered that CFS is caused by an autoimmune virus and I think there will be a blood test to come. Talk to your doctor about chronic fatigue syndrome.
Hepititis B & C
Easily tested for blood
Lyme disease
Doctors often overlook Lyme disease and do not test for it. This is an oversight on your part and you should ask to be tested.
lupus
It is not a definitive test for lupus, but the doctor must perform a test antinuclear antibodies. If you have a high autoimmune activity in the blood (a trait lupus ) , this test can detect.
multiple sclerosis
MS is difficult to diagnose, but use MRI to detect multiple sclerosis. Although you should not go and get an MRI , however , talk to your doctor about multiple sclerosis.
rheumatoid arthritis
Easily tested for blood
Sjogren autoimmune disorder
Easily tested for blood
Thyroid
Most doctors only test your thyroid with a test of thyroid stimulating hormone . However, you may have a thyroid problem , even if your thyroid is functioning properly - I do! Patients with fibromyalgia often have thyroid problems, together with fibromyalgia so prevalent in depth testing is a must . Ask your doctor to perform the following tests:
Levels of free thyroxine
T3 and T4
ANTIBODIES ANTI THRYOGLOBULIN
ANTIBODIES ANTI THRYOGLOBULIN
Other blood tests , the doctor must make a diagnosis of fibromyalgia :
CBC : Check your complete blood count . Looking issues like anemia and other diseases.
GLOBAL metabolic panel : Tests of the kidneys , liver and overall health .
PROFILE HEMO + ELECT DIF : Cheques unusual in their white or red blood cell activity.
Folate : If not included in the CBC , check the levels of folate.
Sedimentation rate : controls inflammation in your body
Serum protein electrophoresis : Tests for autoimmune diseases
VITAMIN B12: Check your levels of vitamin B12, if not done at the CBC.
VITAMIN D: D Check your levels. Vitamin D is the sunshine vitamin . Ask your doctor to run the test for vitamin D that satisfies both their level of D2 and D3. This is a hot topic because scientists reevaluate what they think before. Research shows that if the portable D level is in the normal range if your levels of D3 and D2 can be individually small, which could be a problem . ( My D2 is zero).
