The clinical definition of fibromyalgia include the following criteria:
Chronic widespread pain three months or more
Pain that occurs in the body sections 4: above and below the waist, on the right and left sides.
The pain occurs in at least 11 of the 18 main sensitive points.
With respect to the above criteria, the pain is described as the physical discomfort that occurs when the pressure to tender points is given.
These are small compartmentalized areas with superficial muscle pain or stiffness when pressure is applied to the minor. There are 18 tender points of fibromyalgia other representative including the neck, upper back, lower back and below the buttocks.
There is a range of sensations experienced by patients with fibromyalgia when these areas are stimulated. Perception can be a painful tingling touch, a feeling of tightness or stiffness gets that occurs, or in severe cases, may be an extreme pain resulting from softer touch.
Although the reason for these areas of pain is still unknown, doctors know they are not flashpoints. A neurotransmitter called substance P, which acts as a pain messenger found in abnormally high levels in patients with fibromyalgia. This, together with low levels of serotonin, another neurotransmitter thought (which operates in the regulation of mood, appetite, sleep, muscle contraction, memory and learning) to cause increased pain at these points .
Seventy five sensitivities were determined on the 18 used in diagnosis. Some of them are:
The back of the head
Between the shoulder blades
The end faces of the neck
The outer curves
The upper hips
Inner knee
Upper shoulders
The upper chest and
The sides of the hips
Another symptom of fibromyalgia is the presence of trigger points. These are also the areas of pain, but the pain is not limited to specific areas of the body, like the tender points, but the pain seems to go through the body and can be found anywhere.
Another difference between the two types of pain points is that hotspots are static, while trigger points stimulated muscle pain in another area will be based.
The pain and discomfort that accompanies fibromyalgia can be unbearable however, new research on natural resources are moving. Treating these symptoms do not necessarily mean that you condemn to a life of prescription drugs.
