There are millions of people in the United States , most women who suffer from fibromyalgia , chronic fatigue and / or lupus syndrome. Each of these syndromes are classified as autoimmune diseases. This means that the immune system has turned against one or more specific parts of the body is to attack and destroy tissues and organs. For years , doctors have tried to get answers on these diseases , their causes, treatment options and symptoms of attacks or episodes called exacerbations. Here's why ...
Fibromyalgia Syndrome -A chronic disease that causes : severe widespread pain , tender points in specific parts of the body , extreme fatigue that does not go away with sleep or rest , stiffness and muscle weakness , cognitive disorders and memory , brain fog , insomnia and other sleep disorders , gastrointestinal problems such as irritable bowel syndrome , depression, anxiety , mood swings , sensitivity to heat / cold / noise / smells / food / drugs, unexplained changes in vision and blind spots , dry eyes , vertigo and dizziness , endometriosis , migraines and headaches ... and dozens of other symptoms.
Fibromyalgia is often misunderstood by family, friends , co-workers and even doctors who do not believe that the person is very sick. Getting a diagnosis of fibromyalgia can take months or even years. People with fibromyalgia often end up severely limiting their physical activity level , changing your lifestyle to cope with the symptoms , and may even need to change jobs or stop working altogether. Blood tests , X-rays and other imaging tests are not available for the diagnosis of fibromyalgia, although blood tests can be used to rule out other diseases and syndromes .
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome -A chronic disease that causes : disabling fatigue / exhaustion, chronic pain, chronic flu -like symptoms, joint pain without swelling or redness , muscle weakness , sore throat , tender lymph nodes , chronic cough , nausea , ear pain , morning stiffness , irritable bowel syndrome , impaired concentration and / or short-term memory , mental confusion , depression and anxiety , panic attacks , personality changes and mood to mood , rhythm irregular heartbeat , shortness of breath , frequent respiratory infections resistant , alcohol intolerance , hypersensitivity to heat / / sounds / smells / foods / medications for colds , low grade fever , tinnitus (ringing in the ears) , rash , endometriosis, seizures, and dozens of other symptoms.
Often confused with fibromyalgia , it is believed that chronic fatigue syndrome to possibly be another manifestation of the autoimmune disease. Both diseases are thought to be caused , at least in part by an infection ... possibly the Epstein -Barr virus, but there is a long list of suspected viral being tested today. Furthermore, it appears that there is a genetic component in both conditions , and patients often have symptoms of both syndromes .
As with fibromyalgia , the victim can not be diagnosed for months or years , and their support system may be hampered by lack of faith in the state. Chronic fatigue have trouble keeping up with their responsibilities at home and at work, and job changes , modifications and even to completely abandon the work, are common. The victim not only deals with the extreme fatigue, but with the wide range of other symptoms that make it difficult to function at all. Due to the wide range of symptoms, fibromyalgia misdiagnosis of CFS are not unusual. Symptoms themselves are , in many cases , various diseases accompanying or co- exist as a manifestation of the syndrome.
Lupus causing chronic fatigue, fever, joint pain , stiffness and swelling , skin as red butterfly on the face that covers the bridge of the nose and cheeks rash , chest pain , difficulty breathing , injury skin that are worse with sun exposure , Raynaud's phenomenon ( fingers and toes turning blue when exposed to cold stress situations or during) , dry eyes , headaches , confusion and memory loss , and many other symptoms .
Lupus symptoms can appear suddenly or develop slowly over time. They can be mild or severe , temporary or permanent. No two cases of lupus are alike. Most people with lupus have a mild form of the disease until severe episodes burst. Then the symptoms get worse for a while ... so ... may improve or even disappear forever!
Because the signs and symptoms of lupus vary widely among individuals , diagnosis of lupus is difficult. The symptoms change over time and overlap with other disorders ... as with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome . Fortunately , a combination of tests (blood and urine ) and symptoms and physical examination may provide physicians with the answers they need .
Over time, new developments in the study and treatment of autoimmune diseases lead to treatments for these debilitating disorders. Until now , treatment and learning behaviors ( which take precautions to reduce or eliminate rockets) for the symptoms of fibromyalgia , chronic fatigue syndrome , lupus , and may provide some relief .
As a sufferer of fibromyalgia , chronic fatigue syndrome and / or lupus, their knowledge of what works for you is your best defense against outbreaks . Keep track of the evolution of their health and medications , food allergies , and any activity that triggers the symptoms . Then give the information to your doctor so that you can benefit from what you have learned and to offer the best treatment options.
