Treatment of fibromyalgia is very difficult ; little is known about the exact cause of the disease and there is no protocol to remedy its theoretical causes. Exercise is an important component of most treatment plans for chronic pain , however , and fibromyalgia is no exception .
For people with fibromyalgia , exercise may seem impossible or dangerous. The pain is usually a signal to stop what you are doing ; if movement hurts , it seems reasonable to take it easy . When you have chronic pain , however , take it easy when you're in pain is not an option - not very productive , at least . Exercise can reduce pain and fatigue that comes with fibromyalgia resistance accumulation and release of endorphins in the body.
With pain in muscles and joints , lifting weights or go running may not be the best options for you . Fortunately, there are forms of exercise that can be very helpful for people with fibromyalgia without overloading .
Tai Chi
The tai chi martial art is a slow , meditative first developed in 1300 . Researchers from the Faculty of Medicine at Tufts University conducted a randomized controlled trial to compare the effects of February at the January meeting of hours per week of tai chi , such as education and welfare s ' test spans fibromyalgia patients . The most surprising result of scores Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ ) , ranging from 1 to 100 , with 100 being the worst or the worst . Participants in the tai chi group had a mean score of 62.9 at baseline and 35.1 after the intervention period of 12 weeks, compared with respective scores of 68 and 58.6 in the control group . Positive results were maintained 12 weeks after the intervention ceased. Learn more about this study http://www.nejm.org/doi/pdf/10.1056/NEJMoa0912611 .
Qi Gong
Qi gong therapy is another slow motion, but with less emphasis on defensive movements and meditation. A study of 100 fibromyalgia patients evaluated the impact of a training session of qi gong 3 ½ days followed by 8 weeks of home practice for 3-5 hours a week . The study compared the results for both the intervention and immediate action delay of 6 months. The immediate intervention group saw improvements on delay , while the second group followed the usual care and awaiting treatment , talking about the effectiveness of qigong in routine care . The first group saw an average difference of 18.45 points in the FIQ ; once the delayed group received qi gong surgery, the average score dropped 17.97 points. For both groups, the main result of the reduction of pain on a scale of 11 points was reduced by an average of less than 2 points, a slightly significant result. The study found that the best results that have been practiced for 5 hours or more per week were found ; those who practiced for 3 or less seen as slightly positive.
